Starla Teddergreen. Privateer. Designer. Mentor. Coach. Advocate.

Starla Teddergreen is a professional cyclist hailing from the remote northeastern corner of Washington state. Transitioning from a fifteen-year professional career on the road to gravel and mountain bike racing in 2021, she competes independently under the Distance to Empty banner.

In 2022, amidst her racing endeavors, Starla faced a significant health challenge: a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. This unexpected turn transformed her racing journey into a profound battle for survival and eventual recovery. Despite the ongoing impact of MS on her physical well-being, Starla's story epitomizes the essence of the DTE ethos — turning adversity into opportunity and setbacks into triumphs.

Her return to racing, marked by a victory in her first post-recovery event and subsequent accomplishments, including completing the challenging Leadville 100 race, which earned her the coveted belt buckle, and participating in the LifeTime Grand Prix series in 2023, stands as a testament to her resilience and determination. Starla's journey continues to inspire as she embarks on her 2024 campaign, starting with the Absa Cape Epic, the Tour De France of MTB races. Starla's journey embodies the spirit of perseverance and determination that DTE aims to inspire.
