Starla is a professional cyclist originally from the far northeastern corner of Washington state. After fifteen years of racing professionally on the road, she made the full switch to gravel and mountain bike racing in 2021 and now races under the Distance to Empty banner as a privateer. Despite huge setbacks in her 2022 season, health challenges presented a unique opportunity to embrace the DTE ethos. What should have been racing struggles became a struggle for life, then recovery, then comeback, and as the story unfolded, we got to live what we’re aiming for with the brand. She won her first race back, finished Leadville, one of the hardest races on Earth, and is now ready for a full-gas 2023 season after being selected for the LifeTime Grand Prix.
